Where did it go?

I was looking for that thread posted by Miss Satanica about tools/skills building because I wanted to reread something that someone had written. I don't know by whom or why its been deleted and although it was a charged up thread, it was an important one in my opinion because those issues reoccur in fire arts communities. There were some well thought-out comments made by others and it lead to follow up postings about patents, all important things.

just my 2 cents.

When you start a thread, you have the option to delete it. An unfortunate feature, I believe...that discussion was very valuble to out community. Oh well.

Yes that is what I thought that the moderator had killed the thread.I didnt know who ever started it could kill it too.

JV did you kill that thread ???

I have stopped posting on this list because I was under the impression the contents of the list were Being censored.

It would be nice to know I was wrong

"I have stopped posting on this list because I was under the impression the contents of the list were Being censored."

I don't know about censoring but I have been told that membership was denied to someone I feel has valuable experience in Fire Arts. One thing I value in this tribe is that discussions tend to be a bit more serious and focused, and that posters are generally creditable and professional and back up their answers...but I feel that membership should be granted unless a person is incompetent or blatantly unsafe.

That being said, the beauty of Tribe is that a moderator does have control, and if a member is unhappy, they have the ability to start a tribe of their own and choose to have it open if they like.

JV: can you weigh in at this point? I think it would benefit the tribe if you were to clarify your expectations and requirements.

I agree Willow. I, too, know someone who is very proficient in his fire knowledge that was denied membership to the Guild. What are your 'requirements' JV for being a member of the Guild tribe? What are the regulations that you have laid down for the Guild? I think that until there is a democratic system laid down for the Guild (i.e. voting/decision-making process), we should, at least, all be on the same page with it's moderator.

I, too, also agree that the beauty of Tribe is that you can make your own tribe when you feel a need for something...hence my initiating the Fire Arts Education and Equipment Tribe. Feeling that it was extremely important for all of us to support each other's work in the community, I saw a need (and many people have agreed) for an open forum for us to do so. We are all learning from each other, that is what community is about. And when there are decisions made for the community by individuals without consulting the community as a whole, then I question them. So, please, I think we all need some clarity. I am in the hopes that we can all move forward into a bright future as the community of strong individuals that we are. Fire has the power of transformation, let's harness that power and use it to our advantage. In light and love...

I still would like response from the moderator on his requirements to join the Tribe and his rules once in it. I feel that until there is a voting body to address certain issues, we should all be made aware of the moderator's expectations of the Tribe...therefore we can all be on the same page. This is extremely important for any community project to work. Thoughts anyone?
