Hello Fire Arts Guild,

I've heard a lot about Biodiesel in some other threads. Nothing too in-depth though. I have a lot of fire projects that I'm working on right now and I'd love to hear everyone's experiences with biodiesel. Along with where I can get some in the bay area. How does the burn time vary from other fuels? What about lumens? Is it brighter or dimmer? Is it toxic to ingest? Does it do fire-transfer(on the skin)?

I love fire but my life in general (walking bussing or biking when I can, preferring natural fiber to synthetic etc.) is mostly anti-petrol. The Idea of an alternative fuel made from soy is very intriguing to me.

Thanks for your help

  • #1-- STINKS, STINKS, STINKS!!!!! Like burning fryer grease in a greazy taco/burger stand stinks.

Really, I tried it, have a 5 gal. container of the shit i won't use (need to give that back to my buddy), and once it starts, it's hard to put out (would NOT want to do transfers with it). Very thick and hard to aspirate also (and tastes like oily used dishwater used cleaning up after a thai/texmex dinner).
Probably great in a motor, but not my preference for performance.
Hell, I'd rather use unleaded than that shit (which I don't and won't).

anybody else want in on this?
