My friend Matt from flammaaeterna(firespinning equipment company) will
(most probably) be doing some workshops in july or august here in LA.
He does equipment and kevlarwick construction classes and
poi/staff/tumbling etc classes.
What sort of stuff would all be interested in attending?

Re: firespinning/equipment workshop in LA july or august?
Wed, June 9, 2004 - 7:14 PMI have been asking that, for the present, no one advertise classes and equipment on the Fire Arts Guild tribe.
There are several reasons for this. Most importantly, these things will be seen as having the Guild's endorsement. A guild is no better than its reputation, so the guild will have no value if it is associated with unsafe or substandard tools or practices - this would undermine our credibility. Credibility is what we will need most when we start to try to actually accomplish good things for the fire community - things like group insurance, changing unfair fire dept policies, & that ilk. At some point, I assume the guild will endorse teaching and products, but until we have a mechanism for doing this - and doing it well - I can only hold the space for these things until they come to fruition.
We will at some point vote on this and related issues, but until then, for the sake of continuity we will continue with the policy I laid out for this when I created this tribe (in essence, since I was the only member at that time, I took a vote of one ;) it was the only option at that time).
BTW - I am by no means the sole determiner of what gets voted on and in what order. Anyone who feels strongly about any policy or possible policy is encouraged to bring it up (please, issues not personalities) - I can't do it all myself folks, so please step on up to the plate!
